The Real Reason

The most european contries at that time were Monarchies. Infact only three nations France Switzerland and San Marino were democrcies at that time in Europe.
Let’s start with the year 1878, a war took place between Russian Empire and Ottaoman Empire. The war was fought by Ottoman Empire to free Balkan countries from Russia. The War resulted in the treaty of Treaty of Berlin of 1878.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In this treaty it was administered that the Austro –Hungarian Empire can administer the region of Bosnia and Herzegovina temporarily but officialy it would be the part of Ottoman Empire.

In the year 1908, Ottoman Empire had revolts against the sultan making Austria-Hungary Empir.
This made the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina to grow unrest.
When Austro-Hungary Empire do so, Russia did not interfere in this because he needed something another in return.  In return Russia wanted to capture that strait of Istanbul and Austro-Hungary will not object Russia to do so. In Russia many Slavic people lived who rose in the protest when people got to know about the secret pact. Russian Empire was getting weak making the secret agreement to break.
This made Austrian-Hungary Empire to turn towards Germany for the Friendship. The Austrian-Hungary Empire asked Germany that if we invade Serbia and Russia came in between will Germany help us. Germany accepted the offer as Austrian-Hungary Empire and Germany were both old friends.
To counter this Russia seeks the friendship  to France but the France had no interest in the war and it made Russia to be silent and let what is happening.  At this point of time the fear of war had been stopped but it re-started when the assassination of the prince of Austrian-Hungary Empire, Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. The prince wanted to visit the captured area of Bosnia and Herzegovina when on a wrong turn they met Gavrilo Princep who then killed them. His age was less than 18 so according to rule he was not given execution but the jail of 20 years. In his trial he stated that he believe in the Yugoslavia nation so it made the king of the Austria- Hungary Empire to get angry and wage war againt Serbia.

 

The coarse of war

To save Serbia Russia came against Austria-Hungary Empire. To save  Austria-Hungary Empire Germany camed against Russia and with Austria-Hungary Empire. France can’t keep silent this time and came with Russia and Serbia against Austria-Hungary Empire and German Empire.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At first Italy was with the alliance with Austria-Hungary Empire and Germany but later broke the alliance and went silent. Because Ottoman Empire was the enemy of Russia he went with the Austria-Hungary Empire and Germany. Russia and France along with United Kingdom were in alliance so UK went the two. Overtime USA and Japan also joint the were at the side of UK and France. And also the countries who were the colonies of the UK joined the war as like India.
