The Rise
The year was when1903 when Wrights Brother when invented the first plane in the world the first plane which was flown in India fled 8 years later in 1911 by a Frenchmen named Henry Perquet from Allahabad to Naini for 15 minutes. This plane carried postcards for the great Kumbh fair.
Then approx. 20 years later on 15 Oct 1932 JRD Tata fled with the first plane of Air India from Karachi to Mumbai and this led to the birth of Tata Air Lines.
3 Years ago JRD Tata was the first Indian to get a flying license. He also had participated in the contest and had flew planes from India to London. Despite it he had a dream to bring civil aviation to India. At that time due to British Era the dream was hard to be fulfilled. However, seeing his eagerness Sir Dorabji Tata agreed to invest in his plans. The all plans given to British Raj were rejected so, at last Sir Dorabji only asked for the Aircrafts and permission for the airlines which was then accepted.
The Nationalisation
In the year 1946 Tata Airlines was named as Air India but then came the sorrow when the government brought 6 companies and then formed, AIR INDIA. In 1950s the major policies of Nehru was to nationalize major industries and companies. Even though JRD and Nehru were friends this nationalization made J sad. Years later Nehru wrote a letter that stated he only did this just because he thought it was right. He was then made the Chairman of Air India National who then made this plane to rose in heights.

These were the description when you would travel in the flights in the 1950s and 60s. The company was called as Palace of Sky. It is said that JRD had flown on the heights to ensure that the services were going well or not.
The name of Air India was associated by Maharaja that how the art collection of Air India .
Air India had displayed the Indian art and culture. There were a stiff competition between Air India and other companies so Air India chosen to reflect Indian glory and attract more and more people. The artist from all around the world were commisioned to make art works for Air India.
As in 1967 Air India commissioned Salvador Dali to create a special astrays for the customers of Air India.
It is also said that Dali didn't took payments in currency but he asked for a baby elephant which Air India flowed from India to him.
The Fail
The first big loss of Indian Airlines and Air India took place in 2007 where the losses were 230.97 crores and 530.30 crores respectively. To cover the loss the company was formed by merging the two industries and was named as National Aviation Co. Of India Ltd. which have to suffer the losses further. The reasons for the fail are as follows:
- Before the merger, government had acquired a big fleet of airplanes of worth 44000 crores which become the recipe of the disaster.
- The salaries were increased that also made contributed to the fall.
- The pilots of the companies went on the strikes making the management to end up with bad consecutive.
- Air India opened routes to itself which also ended up with the loss.
- It is also said that the company had acquired more than the need.
- The former executive director said that there was a lack of management and the crew members also were not equipped with better training.
- There was the lot of money spend on the advertisements.
